The aim of this Guideline is to provide lighting anddesign professionals a general understanding ofLED technology as it pertains to interior and exteriorillumination, as well as useful design and applicationguidance for effective use of LEDs. Specifically, theguideline addresses:

  • key differences in measurement methods forLEDs compared to traditional sources;
  • attributes unique to LED that may provideadvantages over traditional light sources in someapplications

Note that LEDs are frequently used to provide coloraccents and color-changing effects for indoor andoutdoor lighting; however, these established applicationsare outside the scope of this document.
