This Approved Method describes the procedures to befollowed and the precautions to be observed in obtaininguniform and reproducible life test measurementsof compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) under standardconditions in alternating current circuits. There are twocategories of compact fluorescent lamps: integratedand non-integrated. Integrated CFLs comprise thedischarge tube, ballast, lamp base and appropriatehousings to combine these components. Typicallyintegrated lamps can be directly connected to the normalpower mains supply using standard lamp holders.Non-integrated CFLs comprise the discharge tube, lamp base and electrical connectors to interface to alamp holder which connects the external ballast to thelamp. This document does not include Linear, Circlineor U-bent fluorescent lamps: For information concerninglife testing these lamp types (see reference 2).
