The method for measuring luminous flux and colormaintenance of LED light sources has been documentedin IES LM-80-08. At the solid-state lighting(SSL) system level such as LED lamps, lightengines, and luminaires, other system components,in addition to the LED light sources, also contributeto luminous flux decay and color change over time. The system performance changes over time can bedirectly tested at the SSL product level. This documentaddresses the evaluation of the changes inperformance of SSL systems over time and can be auseful tool for engineering evaluations and luminousflux maintenance for entire assemblies when environmentalconsiderations and variability for the baseLED deprecation is incorporated into the analysis.
Furthermore, performances of SSL systems, LEDintegrated lamps, non-integrated lamps, LED lightengines, and LED luminaires, are typically but notwithout exception affected by operational and environmentalvariables such as operating cycle, conditionsimposed by auxiliary equipment and fixtures, ambient temperature, airflow and orientation. Thistest method has been developed to establish consistentand environmental conditions across laboratoriesto achieve reproducible results and to permit reliable comparison of results.
