Designers of lighting systems are often faced with widevariations in the presentation of luminaire photometrictest data. Designers also occasionally find that thecalculated values do not agree with measured values.This discrepancy can be attributed to a number of factors.Some of the common problems, such as improperinstallation methods, can be identified on site and corrected.However, discrepancies in photometric performancesare often attributed to out-of-date test reports,manufacturing defects, component tolerances (lamp,ballast), and improper prorating during calculations.
Therefore, it is necessary to establish more-consistentpresentations and verifications for luminairephotometric data.
This document provides recommendations to luminairemanufacturers for uniform presentation of testreports of printed or electronic roadway luminairephotometric data. For large installations, it recommendsconsideration of random sampling of luminairesfor photometric testing, and it recommendsprocedures for prorating photometric test resultsfor calculations where applicable. This TechnicalMemorandum (TM) does not specifically addresscomputer programs that are used to read and supplyformatted electronic photometric data.
