This updated standard includes an expanded series of 51 Specification Forms developed in 2001, augmented by 20 new forms developed in 2004-2006 and 11 new forms developed in 2007, to aid the design, purchase, and manufacture of process measurement and control instrumentation.
The forms in this standard extend beyond the limitations of the original ISA-20-1981 forms. Many of the forms represent new devices not previously covered by the original forms. Separate forms are provided for operating parameters, device specifications, and general requirements. This technical report applies to all processes of development and use of ISA specification forms for process measurement and control instruments. It does not address system specifications such as shared control and shared display devices, where extensive use of functionality or performance specifications is required.
