The Most Up-to-Date Information Available on P/F Materials for Steel Parts
The newest standard to join the MPIF Standard 35 family of materials standards, Materials Standards for P/F Steel Parts, 2000 Edition, provides the design and materials engineer with the latest specifications on powder forged materials.
Each section is divided into subsections based on the P/F materials described. Explanatory Notes and Definitions are provided at the beginning of the standard. The P/F Material Code Designation is clearly explained and defines a specific material as to chemistry and minimum density. The four digit material code designation number used in the standard is a modification of the AISI-SAE nomenclature for wrought steels.
Property data are included for four P/F material systems, including Carbon Steel, Copper Steel, Low Alloy P/F-42XX and P/F-46XX Steels in the normalized and quenched and tempered heat treated conditions. Typical property values listed include Ultimate Strength, Yield Strength, Elongation, Reduction of Area, Rockwell Hardness, Impact Energy, Compressive Yield Strength and Mean Fatigue Limit.
The new standard also provides Hardenability Data and Jominy Curves. Data tables are provided in Customary English and SI equivalent formats.
Material Designation Codes: P/F-1020, P/F-1040, P/F-1060, P/F-10C40, P/F-10C50, P/F-10C60, P/F-1140, P/F-1160, P/F-11C40, P/F-11C50, P/F-11C60, P/F-4220, P/F-4240, P/F-4260, P/F-4620, P/F-4640, P/F-4660, P/F-4680
