The residential pots & pans washing machines described in this Protocol are intended for use in private homes or small facilities. The residential pots and pans washing machines described in this Protocol are not intended for use in facilities that are licensed and inspected as food service establishments by state or local government agencies. These machines also are not intended for unlicensed facilities that are contractually or otherwise expected to meet the regulatory standards of a food establishment.

This Protocol includes minimum requirements to ensure that residential pots and pans washing machines will deliver wash water, detergent, and rinse water that will render cookware clean and sanitized. Units with components or parts covered under existing NSF Standards or Criteria shall comply with those applicable requirements. Use of the data and reports generated from work completed under this Protocol shall conform to the contract between the manufacturer and NSF.
