This standard defines a file format for the exchange of digital moving pictures on a variety of media between computer-based systems. It does not define the characteristics of input or output devices or displays. This format will be known as the SMPTE digital picture exchange format version 1.0, or DPX in short form. The file extension will be .dpx.
